EverSync charges $15 a month to restore backups: your options
Updated October 28, 2026
EverSync is a bookmark sync and backup extension. Some of its users say in recent reviews that they found out restoring a server backup requires a paid plan. Here's what EverSync's own pages say, what it costs, and free ways to keep your Chrome bookmarks safe. Everything below was checked on October 27, 2026.
What EverSync's own pages say
- Restoring needs Pro. EverSync's help page on automatic backups: "Only EverHelper Pro users can restore backups!" Free accounts keep "only two backups for the last two weeks." Pro accounts keep backups "for the last six months, or 25 backups in total" (EverSync help: How does auto backup work?).
- The price. On EverHelper's pricing page, the Pro plan, which includes "Server auto backups and restore," is listed at $15.00 per month or $44.99 per year. A Lifetime plan is listed at $129 (EverHelper pricing).
- Sync itself is free. EverSync says you can use it "absolutely free of charge," and that the paid plan is needed for extra backup options like restoring a backup for a specific date (EverSync help: How much does EverSync cost?).
- Its listing. The Chrome Web Store shows EverSync with 200,000 users and a 2.5-star rating from 4.1K ratings (EverSync on the Chrome Web Store).
Two recent one-star reviews on that listing, quoted as written: "Now they want suddenly 15 Dollars A MONTH, if i want to restore my server backups." (September 2026) and "Erased DECADES of my bookmarks and can't restore without paying $15. Don't trust it!" (August 2026).
If you need a backup back today
Paying for a month is EverSync's documented route to restore a server backup. Before you do, check the free places a copy may still be:
- Chrome's own Bookmarks.bak file and any bookmarks file you exported, in our guide Deleted Chrome bookmarks? How to get them back.
- Another computer that hasn't synced since the loss (same guide, step 1).
Free ways to back up Chrome bookmarks
- Export a bookmarks file from Chrome's Bookmark Manager (⋮, then Export bookmarks) (Google's import and export help). Free, and any browser can import it.
- Save bookmarks in your Google Account by signing in to Chrome (Google's sync help). Free, but a deletion syncs too.
- Automatic snapshots from a tool that restores for free. Our guide How to back up your Chrome bookmarks for free covers all three.
So it never happens again
We think restoring your own bookmarks should never cost money. We make Never Lose Tabs, and it backs up your bookmarks as well as your tabs, free:
- Snapshots after every change. Within a couple of minutes of a change, it keeps a new snapshot of all your bookmarks on your computer.
- An alarm when they suddenly vanish. If a large share of your bookmarks disappears at once, or your bookmarks bar goes empty, it tells you and offers to restore. The snapshot from before the loss is kept.
- Restore that never overwrites. Restoring adds a folder named Restored bookmarks, with the snapshot's date, to Other bookmarks. Nothing you have now is changed or removed.
- A copy outside Chrome. Snapshots are included in the hourly backup file in Downloads/NeverLoseTabs, and any snapshot can be exported as a bookmarks file any browser can import.
Bookmark backup is optional: turn it on with Back up my bookmarks too, and Chrome asks you to allow access to your bookmarks. It's free forever. It can't bring back bookmarks deleted before you turn it on.
