Google Form™ stopped syncing to Google Sheets™ past 100,000 responses
Updated October 20, 2026
Google lists a quiet limit on its Google's help page: once a form has more than 100,000 responses, its responses may not sync with the linked Google Sheets™ spreadsheet. The form keeps accepting responses, so the first sign is usually a report or dashboard that stopped changing.
How to check
- Open the form and click Responses. Note the total.
- Open the linked sheet and compare its last row's timestamp with the most recent response in the form.
- If the form is over 100,000 and the sheet is behind, this is very likely the cause.
What to do
- Get a complete copy now. Download the responses as a CSV from the Responses tab. Google notes that past 10,000 responses the download may not be sorted by time, so sort it by the timestamp column after opening it.
- Bring the form under 100,000. Remove older responses you've confirmed are in your copy. Google's screen only deletes all responses at once on big forms, so check your copy carefully before using it.
- Stop it happening again. Keep an archive that updates on its own, and clear old responses on a schedule.
Form Keeper does those last two steps automatically: it copies each new or edited response into an archive sheet within about a minute (no matter how big the form is), checks every copy, and clears old responses on the schedule you choose.
See exactly where your form stands
Form Keeper's free health meter shows your response count, how fast it's growing, and the date your form reaches each of Google's limits. It can also archive every response to a sheet you own and clear old ones on a schedule, without losing anything. Learn about Form Keeper.
