How many responses can a Google Form™ have?
Updated October 20, 2026
From September 2026, a Google Forms™ form can hold up to 500,000 responses or 1 GB of data, whichever comes first (Google's help page). When it reaches either, it stops accepting responses.
But a form starts behaving differently well before that:
| Responses in one form | What Google says happens |
|---|---|
| 10,000 | The question and individual views may disappear, and a downloaded CSV may not be sorted by time. |
| 50,000 | The response summary may not appear. |
| 100,000 | Responses may stop syncing to the linked Google Sheets™ spreadsheet. |
| 500,000 or 1 GB | The form stops accepting new responses (limits announced for September 2026). |
Files don't count toward 1 GB
Google says the 1 GB includes the form and its response data but not files people upload; those are stored in the owner's Google Drive™.
How long until your form gets there?
Divide the remaining room by your daily responses. A form with 40,000 responses getting 500 a day reaches 100,000 in about 120 days and 500,000 in about 2½ years. Busy school forms often get there much faster.
Form Keeper's free health meter does this math for you, showing the date your form reaches each limit, and can keep the form small automatically while saving every response to an archive you own.
See exactly where your form stands
Form Keeper's free health meter shows your response count, how fast it's growing, and the date your form reaches each of Google's limits. It can also archive every response to a sheet you own and clear old ones on a schedule, without losing anything. Learn about Form Keeper.
